What is Small Smarts?
Small Smarts is a designer rental boutique for kids. We aim to make beautiful and unique outfits from around the globe accessible to Aussie kids at a fraction of the retail price. Your kids will feel and look amazing at their special event without the expense and waste usually associated with a one wear purchase.

How do I rent from Small Smarts?
Browse our collection and find your perfect outfit. Reserve for 4 or 8 days and relax while you wait for it to be delivered to your door anywhere in Australia. On or before the last day of your rental package everything in the pre-paid return bag provided and drop it in at your nearest Post Office by 4pm. We’ll take care of the dry cleaning.
Does Small Smarts have a showroom?
We do not currently have a showroom but consultations can be made upon request. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange an appointment.
How long can I hire an outfit for?
Rental periods are 4 or 8 days. We recommend choosing a delivery date 1 – 2 days before your event. If you require an outfit for longer than 8 days please contact us at email@example.com and we can provide a quote based on your required time period.
Are the clothing and accessories at Small Smarts new?
All clothing and accessories sourced by Small Smarts are new. Some items may have been hired by other customers prior to you. Rest assured we dry-clean and inspect these garments with the upmost of care prior to delivery to ensure you receive them in pristine condition.
Can I try the outfit on before hiring it?
Yes, all clothing items are available for a 2 day try on service. Simply select “2 day advance try on” in the Rental Period box when booking your outfit. We recommend using this service at least 3 weeks prior to your event date or earlier if possible. Please note we cannot guarantee availability of the outfit for your event date. A booking must be made by you after trying the outfit on.
There is a possibility for customers located in Melbourne to pick up an outfit and take it home to try on prior to booking it. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange.
When will my order be delivered?
Your order will delivered via Australia Post between 8.30am and 8pm on the day you have requested delivery.
How much does shipping cost?
We charge a flat rate of $12.55 for standard delivery up to 3kgs. This fee includes the delivery to you and the return back to us (in a pre-paid postage bag). For orders exceeding 3kgs, postage will be calculated on a case by case basis.
Is signature required for delivery?
It is recommended that all packages are signed for on delivery. If you are not available at the delivery address any person present may sign for the parcel on your behalf. We do not accept any responsibility for orders left unattended at unsecure shipping addresses.
What If I am away when my order is delivered?
If anyone else is present at the delivery address they may accept and sign for the parcel on your behalf. If no one is present at the delivery location, it may be taken back to the delivery depot or Post Office for collection. If we are required to re-deliver your order, we may charge you a reasonable fee for redelivery of the order. Your hire period starts when first attempted delivery is recorded.
What if my order does not arrive on the chosen delivery day?
Don’t panic! On the rare occasion that this may happen please contact customer service at email@example.com and we will endeavour to rectify this as soon as possible.
Can I have an outfit delivered to a PO Box?

Do you deliver to hotels or business addresses?
Yes. Please advise the full Hotel/Business name and the floor number if known. If you are staying at a hotel please provide details of your check in date and guest name when placing your order.
RETURNING YOUR OUTFIT
How do I return my outfit?
Simply package everything in the pre-paid return bag provided and drop it in at your nearest Australia Post counter no later than 4pm on the last day of the rental period. We’ll look after the dry cleaning.
What if my return date falls on a Sunday or public holiday?
Just drop it in at the Post Office counter on the next business day before 4pm.
Do I need to clean my outfit prior to returning it?
No, there is no need to clean, wash or dry clean your outfit. We will take care of the dry cleaning once it has been returned.
What if I return my order late?
Late returns are subject to an additional hire fee of $25 per day per garment and will be calculated daily and charged to your payment method. For full information on our late fee policy please visit our Terms & Conditions page.
SIZE AND FIT
What sizes do you stock?
Sizes range from 6 months to 10 years. If you cannot find the size you require, please contact us and we will endeavour to help.
I need help choosing the correct size for my child’s outfit.
Sizing and cut varies between brands. Size guides specific to each brand can be found on our website. Please consult these carefully before selecting your size. If you are still unsure please contact us for help.
REFUNDS, EXCHANGES AND CANCELLING ORDERS
How do I exchange a garment?
No problem! Notify us straight away at firstname.lastname@example.org and include your order number. Your garment will need to be returned in an unworn state within 24 hours of receipt with the security tags attached. In most cases we can send a new garment out to you overnight for only an additional $12.95 (which covers the new outfit return shipping). If you select another garment which has a higher rental fee, you will also be charged the difference.
What if the garment does not fit?
If a garment does not fit your child please notify us straight away at email@example.com and include your Order number and issue.
We will provide you with a credit note (minus delivery charges) provided you return it in an unworn state within 24 hours of receiving the Order with the security tag attached.
If you wish to exchange for a different size we will endeavour to send out a new garment to you overnight for an additional $12.95 (which covers the new outfit return shipping).
How do I cancel an order?
We understand plans change sometimes and we have your back. Please request your cancellation in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your order number and any other relevant details with your request.
If you wish to cancel your order 14 days or more in advance of its delivery date no cancellation fees will apply and we will provide you with your choice of a 110% credit note or a full refund.
If you need to cancel your order within 14 days of its estimated delivery date, a $10.95 cancellation fee will be applied. We will provide you with a credit note or a full refund minus the cancellation fee. If the order has already been dispatched, shipping costs will be deducted from the refund or credit note.
COVID 19 cancellation policy
If your event is cancelled due to COVID 19 related restrictions we will provide you with a refund or a 110% credit note (minus relevant delivery charges). No cancellation fees will be applied provided we are notified within 24 hours of the restrictions taking place. A request for a refund must be made in writing to email@example.com. Please include your Order number and a request for a refund or credit note. A refund will be issued so long as all of the sizes of the garment in question are returned unworn with the security tags attached.
CARE AND HANDLING
What should I do about wrinkles or creases?
Please do not iron your garments as this may damage the fabric. Your outfit will have been steamed prior to being packaged and sent to you. We will do our best to ensure it arrives wrinkle free. If there are creases they may fall out simply by hanging the garment. You could also try lightly steaming the garment on low heat or hanging in a steamy bathroom.
What if an outfit is accidentally stained or damaged?
We understand that some wear and tear may occur at times. Normal wear and tear including minor stains which are able to be removed by dry cleaning, small seam rips, missing beads and sequins and stuck zippers will be assessed at our discretion and can usually be rectified by us upon return of the item. If your garments are returned with irreversible damage, you will be liable to pay the repair costs or the full retail price of the garments as listed on our website (minus the rental amounts already paid). In the unfortunate event that this occurs we will endeavour to find the best solution by taking into account the demand for the garment, the replaceable value and the condition of the garment before you hired it.
What if a garment is lost, stolen or damaged beyond repair.
If your garments are lost, stolen or returned with irreversible damage, you will be liable to pay the full retail price of the garments as listed on our website (minus the rental amounts already paid). In the unfortunate event that this occurs we will endeavour to find the best solution by taking into account the demand for the garment, the replaceable value and the condition of the garment before you hired it.
